I'm Val. I tutor kids from 3rd grade through high school, and I started because I kept seeing students who were smart but just needed someone in their corner. I'm that person. Whether it's early reading or algebra, I figure out how your kid learns and we go from there.
Get in TouchI started tutoring at my local library because I kept seeing kids who were smart but stuck. Not because they couldn't do the work. Because nobody had slowed down with them long enough to figure out where things stopped making sense.
Grades matter, but that's not the whole picture. I'm working on the stuff underneath. How a kid handles something hard. Whether they believe they can figure it out. Whether they're willing to try again after getting it wrong. That's what carries them into high school, into college, into advocating for themselves when things get tough.
A lot of the students I work with are kids who don't always get the support they deserve. Smart kids in schools that are stretched thin, in neighborhoods where tutoring isn't easy to come by. I know what that looks like because I come from the same places. I want them to walk into any room and feel like they belong there.
Val is basically part of our family at this point. My daughter used to dread homework and now she's asking to read on her own. I still can't believe it.
She makes my son feel like he's smart even when he's struggling with something. His whole attitude about school changed after working with her.
I was failing algebra and honestly about to give up. Val sat with me and broke it down in a way that actually made sense. I passed with a B+.
Everyone at the library asks for Val. The kids love her and the parents trust her. That's not common.
